How Peanuts got animated TV specials

Peanuts has done many films and TV specials. It all started with a chocolate cigar* commercial in 1959.

See the footnote** for the reason being of Lucy's "What's the occasion? Charlie Brown has another baby sister?" line.

Charlie Brown also opens a 1950's TV show called The Ford Show.

Bill Melendez' first release at the studio were commercials for the Ford Falcon car.

The First TV special they did was A Charlie Brown Christmas, which was asked to be done by someone during a phonecall. Hoped you liked this post!

*A chocolate cigar was simply a candy that was shaped like a cigar and had packaging that looked like a cigar box. This was banned because it could lead children to be smokers when they grow up

**Lucy is referring to Sally, who was introduced in 1959 as a baby.
